Story

On a trip to Japan many years ago, Tara went on a mission to visit Matsunoya’s store in Tokyo. The small store was filled to the brim with brooms, baskets, buckets, and dustpans, which overflowed onto the pathway. Tara found so many pieces, but soon realised she didn’t have enough hands to carry everything she wanted to bring back.

While in the store with a dilemma on her (very full) hands, she took as much as she could carry to take home. Back in Sydney after the trip she was chatting to a lovely Japanese woman in the shop about her trip, this kind woman offered to help Tara write an email in Japanese to Matsunoya asking to stock the products, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Matsunoya finds the best makers from all over Japan and the world and develops products with each one, bringing together the best broom makers and craftsmen from across the country. Each product is functional, well-made, and showcases unparalleled skill.
