Knowing Japan has some of the best coffee in the world, on a recent trip to Kyoto, we made it our mission to find the best brew around. Upon review, here are some of our favourite coffee shops in Kyoto:

Batch brew.Hario Cafe
Enjoy coffee made with products belonging to renowned coffee equipment brand Hario. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, enjoy the delicious coffee whilst shopping the vast hario range for sale around the space.
Weekenders Coffee
A small sandstone space surrounded by greenery, with finishes reflective of traditional Japanese architecture. Enjoy delicious specialty coffee, designed to ignite the scenes and inspire a fresh coffee culture in Kyoto.

Friends of provider, we re vist Haru and Kosuke at Yoshihara every time we're in Kyoto. Their serene and simple space is the perfect place to enjoy a warm pour over, or delicious signature cardamon bun.

Yoshihara.Kurasu
A personal favourite, and spot we returned to the most, Karasu provides high-quality coffee, locally roasted in Kyoto. Kurasu advocates for Japanese coffee culture, community, and homebrew, all while championing sustainability. With two beautiful locations to choose from, find a wide variety of coffee retail and beans to take home with you.

Stumbled upon by accident, we were immediately taken by the beauty of the HOO cafe space, complete with stone walls and wooden finishes. Perfect for your classic latte, or find delicious matcha (the best I had in Kyoto!).
