Last week we ventured to Melbourne to teach a candle making workshop at Keoma Store. Not only were we chuffed that it sold out, we were also excited to be able to bring a little bit of Provider Store to Victoria. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Keoma and everyone who came, plus to those who dropped off their candles for refilling.

While a big part of our trip was work, we did get some play. Here is what we got up to when we weren’t making candles.

DAY ONE

We checked into Keoma Stay (which felt like home) and then had lunch at Shimbashi Soba. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, we took our laptops to the Naked For Satin rooftop for a beer and some emails. Punters Club for dinner (chicken schnitty is excellent).

DAY TWO

It’s workshop day! Before we set up, we took to the streets to do a bit of light shopping. Kowtow’s stunning shopfit had us inspired, as did SWOP’s new fitout, and Havn is always good to peruse.

Lunch was at A1 Bakery before we set off to buy cheese/wine and set up for our workshop.
The workshop was a success and it was so cool to see our Provider community branch out into Melbourne. We finished up with dumplings at Chotto Motto.

DAY THREE

Ignoring the after-workshop beers we drank the night before, we had to be at CIBI early to shoot a fun receipe with them (coming soon). Right after we headed to FutureFuture restaurant for exciting talks and to shoot some things (also coming soon). Over chats we drank yuzu spritz’ and taste tested their menu – Oishi! We then checked into StandardX Hotel and went for a stroll around Fitzroy, stopping at Skydiver Records and Builders Arms for a cheeky drink or two.

DAY FOUR

Started with a coffee and toastie from Nico’s and back to Keoma to refill all the candles that were dropped off. We also bought a few goodies from Keoma as it’s so hard not to spend money there. Between many catch ups with friends, we visited A Reading Room in Northcote and had lunch at Marquis of Lorne. A quick drink on the rooftop at StandardX and then we had dinner at a cute little wine bar called Earth Angels.

DAY FIVE

Before heading to the airport we stopped in to Terrain, a cool bookstore and visited Australian Galleries to see Danielle Creenaune’s newest exhibition.
